A Texas woman is thanking Elon Musk and Mark Cuban, after Grok, the AI chatbot and assistant found on X, helped her lower her yearly prescription drug costs.
The X user, who posted under the name “Sevierly Blessed Texan,” said the AI assistant helped lead her to Cuban’s Cost Plus Drug Company, a direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical business meant to help lower drug prices. That discovery helped her save.
“Elon Musk’s Grok bot just introduced me to Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs, and it’s saving me over $500 a year on my prescriptions,” the user posted on X.

“Two frenemy billionaires teaming up to save me money and making me appreciate them both.”
The post garnered reaction from Cuban himself, who reposted it with the caption “Whatever it takes. Right @elonmusk.”
The post has gained hundreds of thousands of views, with Cuban’s response hitting over 936,000 views at the time of writing.
The celebrated teamwork is rare for the “two frenemy billionaires,” as the X user called them. Musk and Cuban have been engaged in a high-profile public feud, clashing on a number of issues including DEI hiring and policy changes on X.
Cuban has said however, that he doesn’t take the feud seriously.
“He has really thin skin,” Cuban said in a September 2024 interview with Club Shay Shay. “I don’t have anything personal against him and I never initiate it. The only time I ever got back at Elon is when he tries to mess with me. Like, he’s called me a racist. He’s called me a fool.”
Grok helps find cheaper options
According to the woman, Grok led her to Cuban’s drug company after she requested help finding the cheapest options.
“I asked @bot to look at my prescription prices and find better ones,” the user said in a post on X. “It found @costplusdrugs had the best deal and gave me their transfer form, which was super simple. I filled it out, sent it to my doctor’s office, and they moved my prescriptions. Under 20 minutes to save over $500.”
Using AI to help lower medical costs is becoming a growing trend, with patients taking to chatbots like Claude and ChatGPT to help decipher medical bills and find more affordable options.
In an essay for Business Insider, Matt Rosenberg said he asked Claude to analyze a $195,000 hospital bill. The AI chatbot helped him work through billing codes and identify violations in Medicare billing rules. He then fact-checked Claude’s findings by feeding the information into ChatGPT, which confirmed it. This allowed him to eventually negotiate a $163,000 discount with the hospital.
“AI changes the equilibrium,” Rosenberg wrote in his Business Insider essay. “Not by being infallible — it isn’t — but by making the tedious manageable. What would have been days of regulatory research became a couple hours of conversation, collaboration, and brainstorming. Where I had questions or found errors, Claude informed or corrected. Together, our strengths and weaknesses produced a winning strategy.”

Other social media users have also posted their experiences using AI to lower medical bills, often by running itemized bills through chatbots to identify duplications, issues or overcharges.
Cuban himself is a supporter of using AI to lower medical costs — though he’s argued government agencies and companies should be using the technology to vet healthcare contracts and identify hidden fees. In an interview with Kara Swisher, the billionaire said he pushes cities, states and companies to let him feed their contracts through Claude to identify issues.
“Every penny they save on their healthcare benefits is cashflow that goes right to the bottom line,” Cuban said.
