Here's how to file your claim in Disney's $50 million settlement over live TV streaming prices

The Walt Disney Company has agreed to pay $50 million to settle a class action suit from 2022. That could mean some money is coming your way.

The case revolves around allegations that Disney entered into “anticompetitive agreements with YouTube TV” and other live-streaming services that resulted in subscription price increases from over-the-top live TV services. Plaintiffs argued the company used its control over popular programming, including ABC, ESPN and Hulu, to influence the live streaming marketplace.

The settlement covers an eligibility period of nearly seven years, meaning a wide number of people could be eligible for claiming part of the $50 million pool. Here's how to tell if you're one of them.

Who is eligible for a settlement payment from Disney?

You'll have to have been a subscriber of either YouTubeTV or DirectTV Stream sometime between April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2026 to be eligible for this settlement.

If you're still unsure if you're part of the settlement, you can call 1-877-704-2517 for more information.

When do I need to submit a claim for a Disney settlement?

You have until Sept. 8 to submit a claim form which can be found online or mailed in.

How much will I receive from a Disney settlement?

The amount each subscriber will receive has not been disclosed. Amounts will likely vary and will depend on how long you've been subscribed as well as the total number of claims that are filed.

What if I'm eligible, but don't want to be a part of this settlement?

You can choose to exclude yourself, also known as “opting out,” of the settlement. Most people only do this if they want to preserve their right to file their own lawsuit against Disney over the same allegations or continue a lawsuit they’ve already filed.

If you opt out, you won’t receive any money from this settlement, but you also won’t be bound by its terms. To exclude yourself, you must mail a written request to the settlement administrator by Sept. 8, 2026. You can mail-in a request to the settlement administrator at: Biddle v. Disney, Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 4720, Portland, OR 97208-4720.

How long will it take me to receive my Disney settlement?

The final approval hearing for the settlement is currently scheduled for Jan. 14, 2027. If the judge approves everything, the settlement payments will be made. That usually occurs within 90 days.

Is this the end of the lawsuits over Disney's alleged influence over the live streaming marketplace?

No. Fubo TV is part of the original lawsuit but it has not yet reached a settlement with Disney. (Disney finalized its purchase of Fubo in 2025.) That portion of the lawsuit is still ongoing.
