Travis Kelce just bought a $5.35 million mansion in this tiny Ohio village — and locals are already preparing for Taylor Swift

Kelce purchased the 21,000-square-foot historic home in March, reported by The Wall Street Journal. The couple had already been spotted having lunch in the village, prompting the kind of speculation that tends to flourish in a small-town Facebook group. Commenters quickly assumed Swift and Kelce were simply passing through. As it turns out, there was a blank space in Bratenahl and Kelce wrote his name on it.

Welcome to Bratenahl

Bratenahl is the kind of place that feels slightly removed from the city around it. The wealthy lakefront enclave sits just outside downtown Cleveland, known for its historic homes, old money and, increasingly, some very recognizable neighbors.

Former Cavaliers stars Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson have both owned property there, with Khloé Kardashian spending time there during her relationship with Thompson. Cleveland Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam also maintain a home there. For a town this small of roughly 1,400 people, Bratenahl has had more than a few celebrity eras.

Part of the appeal is easy to understand. “With the views on those lakefront properties? You’d think you’re in Newport. Or California. You’d think you’re anywhere other than Cleveland, Ohio,” Ms. Klonowski, who lived in the village for 46 years, told the New York Times.

And the real estate matches the pedigree. Current listings in the area range in price from about $250,000 to $2.4 million, according to Realtor.com.

Still, wealth is hardly new here. The roughly one-square-mile community has attracted some of Cleveland’s richest families since the Gilded Age, and today its median household income sits at about $137,500.

Expanding the portfolio

There may be another reason Ohio makes sense for Kelce: He grew up just a few miles away in Cleveland Heights. And now that the couple has tied the knot, the Bratenahl estate looks a little like the version of the domestic life Swift has written about wanting.

“Have a couple kids, got the whole block looking like you,” she sings in “Wi$h Li$t,” also imagining a driveway with a basketball hoop.
