Keeping up with the latest TV technology is expensive, especially when new and improved TV's seem to come out every few months. For a long time, if you wanted the newest features in a TV, you'd expect to pay nearly $1,000. Enter TCL. It's now possible to get everything you could ever want out of a TV, without breaking the bank.
In the past, brand name recognition was how people made their buying decisions. Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung were at the forefront of TV technology, and any other brand was automatically brushed off as being "subpar". Now, with Amazon reviews, people can pull up an unknown brand on their phone, and quickly glance at how many stars the product has, as well as view photos, videos, and first-hand testimonies from Amazon Reviewers — real customers with real experiences to share.
TCL Smart TVs are Utterly Dominating Other TV Brands on Amazon
Never heard of TCL? That's because they are a Chinese company, and they have only been around since 2013. Forbes recently interviewed Chris Larson, President of Sales for TCL in North America. Larson explains that TCL can manufacture great TVs for low prices because the entire manufacturing process — from the plastic frame to the motherboard — are handled by TCL. Without outsourcing parts from middle-men, production is faster, easier and cheaper.
The 2017 model TCL 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV comes with built-in Roku — industry-leading smart TV software. It's listed for $449 on Amazon at the time of writing! The remote control even has very cool built-in Netflix and Hulu buttons.
What Explains TCL's Success?
According Larson, TCL's success comes entirely from their exposure on Amazon. He said that the company took a lot of time to tell the brand's story on their product page.
It's important to note there are professional reviewers out there, and ironically, Samsung and Sony have been partnered with the Amazon Vine Voices program, where they give their newest TV's away for free every year to professional reviewers in exchange for feedback on Amazon. Despite the competition in both the stores and online, TCL has still managed to make it to the top of the charts, and that is seriously impressive.
If you think $449 is still a lot of money for your budget, take into consideration that even if you want to play Netflix on the TV you currently own, it requires a second device, which isn't free. Amazon Fire Sticks and the Roku Express are the cheapest option out there to add Netflix and Hulu directly to your existing TV, but you won't get 4K quality, and you may not have a 55-inch screen.
A TCL Roku TV makes it a lot less painful to join the cord-cutting masses who've decided not to buy a cable TV package, which can easily save you over $100 a month! With all things considered, if you're thinking about buying a new TV, a TCL 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV is probably your best bet.
